Serving Seniors, Inc.
Philosophy & Purpose
-
Aging is seen as a universal developmental
process which individuals experience differently. A mature
individual should have the opportunity for continuous physical,
mental, emotional and social development. Mature individuals
should have the right and responsibility to be involved in
determining and influencing their own and their community's
well-being.
- Serving Seniors, Inc. shall provide a community focal point for seniors with services, programs and activities to encompass their physical, social, intellectual and emotional well-being with equal access for all.
These services and programs shall meet the needs of older persons to enhance their dignity, support their independence and encourage their involvement in and with the community.
Goals & Objectives
- To enhance the quality of life of the seniors in Steinbach and surrounding district and to encourage them to maintain a dignified, independent lifestyle.
- To maintain a directory of existing and new resources and services that are necessary to seniors living in the community.
- To provide outreach services to seniors in the community.
- To interact with seniors and to coordinate community resources for them.
- To take collective action on matters or concern to the membership and to address the concerns of the community of seniors at large.
- To provide stimulating programs, activities and leadership opportunities.
- To prevent social isolation, providing opportunities to make new friends and maintain old friendships.
- To educate the community at large about the needs and services required by seniors and to make the community aware of the services seniors give to the community.
- To inform seniors of and to to encourage them to participate in the opportunities for service available through Serving Seniors, Inc. and in the community.
